马约尔广场友好公寓 Apartamentos Plaza Mayor Friendly Rentals
They promised internet and telephone and didn't have it, Good location Angelica was really nice. If you want to get away and vacation without any worldly communication stay here. TV is only in spanish.—— SanDiegoSae
We stayed in aprtment 5B for 3 nights, and Angelica who checked us in was excellent with perfect English. The location of the apartment is superb if you want to be in the absolute centre of the city. Overlooking a very busy square it is perfect for people watching - [as long as you don't mind climbing out of the dormer window], and the double glazing really does shut out the sound at night.
However....only one plug for the bath, bidet and washbasin, non-working air conditioning - or more precisely it would only blow out warm air in temperatures of 28c or more - horrible cheap pillows [one per person ] and no underblanket on the bed made this feel more like very cheap accomodation rather than the luxury standard claimed.
It is such a shame that they have skimped on minor items because the space and furniture are absolutely superb, and you feel you could really live there, if only there were enough plugs, decent pillows etc—— SueFrance
There is no better location than this.. We stayed there (2 of us) for a long weekend and felt like not leaving the apartment!! The sunny floods into the bedroom each morning and the magical sounds of the historic Plaza Mayor fill the apartment. It's heaven.. I would be happy to stay in a shoe-box for that location but it was actually a huge apartment and we wished we had friends with us. It was nice and clean, the bathroom was huge with double basins, and large separate bath to the shower (a must!) and cosy central heating combined with double-glazed windows. Highly recommended - I've already had a string of friends go and stay!!—— tb1s
The location is ideal. It's within walking distance to everywhere. Plaza Mayor is very interesting with many unique shops and restaurants.
The apartment is big. But it is no way suitable for a good stay. There's no telephone. So we had to use our handphone to call the maintenance and reception (rent4days). There was no bath towels and I had to call the maintenance to ask for it. And they said they would call me back. How good is that? They don't speak good English too. The first time I called, the guy hang up on me.
The kitchen is not fitted to cook big meals. It's more for display. No kitchen towel, very little washing liquid, no extra trash bag, limited cooking utensils, etc.
The good thing is that there's washing machine inside the apartment and it comes with a dryer. But no washing powder provided.
The bedrooms do not have windows. I had to line the duvet with the sheets myself. The bedside lamps do not have bulbs in them (!!!) So when the lights are turned off, it is pitch dark in the room and I almost tripped over. The headbed protrudes out and I hit my head against it as I was lying down to bed in pitch dark.
Only 1 toilet in the apartment and ONLY 1 toilet roll for 4 adults for 4 nights (!!!) No hot water after 3 of us bathed. Bring your own toiletries. Central heating system.
Sound proofing from the noisy plaza downstairs is pretty good.
I see that others had reviewed that the place is good. But I certainly didn't feel that it was a good deal that we got from Rent4Days. Will definitely NOT recommend this to anyone.—— cocojen
I got the apartment from rent4days. I believe there are other operators for the other units in the building. This was my 1st trip to Madrid and I didn't know what to expect. Plaza Mayor is a square so no cars can get in. There are many shops facing the square. On the ground floor are the shops and restaurants. The apartment I had is on the 2nd floor. It has internet and overlook the square, It has a lift.
Rafael came to open the door for us and becos I had a UK tel so it didn't cost me much to call him than if I had used the Singapore calling card. I had to call him beforehand to fix the time to check in. Bearing in mind the Plaza is a v busy and messy place, I did not feel safe hanging around. There were many street vendors and homeless sleeping in the corners of the plaza. We had lunch in 1 of the restaurants and waited for him to turn up. He did and went through the procedures. The flat was not ready for occupation: there was no towel, there was no toilet paper, there was no trash bags (it's important becos u have to throw your rubbish out) and on the first night, after 3 of my travelling companions had showered, there was no more hot water in the shower and I was shivering with shampoo on my hair. Thereafter everything went downhill, I caught a cold, flu and is still nursing my cough but I had to continue my journey to Barcelona and London. We figure that the flat was left empty for a while and the hot water could not be heated while the heater was not turned on: the hot water boiler is linked to the central heating system. The hall is huge and so was 1 of the rooms; the other room was v tiny with no windows. There is only 1 toilet in the entire flat. The room felt cold becos of the size but the duvet was warm enough.—— J-Lo8888
This place couldn't be in a better spot. very central. Quiet at night though. Great spot to explore the city from.
We ran an hour later than our predicted arrival time so missed the check-in agent and had to call the agent to come back and meet us. No extra cost though.. Def recommend it for 2-5 people—— coldyLondon
